Smyril Line charters MAXINE

Smyril Line has chartered the RoRo ferry MAXINE from Luxembourg-based CLdN. Smyril Line is currently short of RoRo capacity due to delays in the delivery of the two RoRo ferries AKRANES and SKIPANES, while the company also returned the RoRo ferry LISTA in August.

AKRANES suffered a shaft generator failure during sea trials in the spring. The fault should now have been repaired, so hopefully the ferry can be delivered to the company soon.

Her sister vessel SKIPANES suffered an engine room fire during her delivery voyage from the shipyard in China to the Faroe Islands. She is therefore currently at a shipyard in Hong Kong.
