The remains of Armas Trasmediterránea become Ceuta Link

Caflaja, which owned the Spanish shipping company Armas Trasmediterránea, has created a new brand called Ceuta Link for the Algeciras – Ceuta route. The route, together with the fast ferry VILLA DE AGAETE, was originally sold to DFDS, but the Spanish competition authorities would not approve the sale. It is the company’s last remaining route, as all the others have been sold to Baleària and DFDS.

Caflaja can no longer use the Trasmediterránea trademark, as it was sold to Baleària as part of the route sales. Caflaja has therefore had to come up with a new brand for its remaining route. VILLA DE AGAETE is currently at a shipyard in Gibraltar to be painted in the new Ceuta Link colours.

However, according to several websites, Caflaja has also sold the Algeciras – Ceuta route to an unknown buyer, but due to various approvals, it will take some time before the sale goes through. The undisclosed buyer will also take over the fast ferry VILLA DE AGAETE, and the crew and shore-based staff will transfer as part of the deal.
