Viking Line and TT-Line have entered into a Joint Operation Agreement (JOA) to open a new ferry route between Vuosaari (Helsinki) and Muuga (Tallinn). The new route is scheduled to start during the first quarter of 2027.

The route will be served by a RoPax ferry, which will be announced in November 2026. The new route will not affect Viking Line’s route between Helsinki and Tallinn, which will continue to be served by VIKING XPRS.

“The cooperation with TT-Line is a natural step in the development of our operations between Finland and Estonia. Through this arrangement, we strengthen our position in freight transportation while gaining the opportunity to develop a competitive and long-term alternative on the Vuosaari–Muuga route.”

Marcus Risberg, President and CEO of Viking Line.

No new company will be set up for the route; instead, it will be operated jointly by the two shipping companies. However, Viking Line will acquire a 50% stake in the RoPax ferry to be deployed on the route.

“This agreement marks an important milestone in the development of freight transportation across the Baltic Sea. By combining the strengths and experience of TT-Line and Viking Line, we can offer customers an efficient and reliable transport solution while further strengthening the transport corridor between Finland and Estonia. We look forward to a successful cooperation and to jointly developing the route’s long-term potential.”

Bernhard Termühlen, CEO of TT-Line.

Viking Line’s investment under the agreement is estimated at approximately EUR 10 million. The investment is not expected to have any material impact on the group’s financial position.
